A previous attack on the Sheskharis terminal in early March led to loading being suspended for five days. According to Reuters, the terminal normally loads 700,000 barrels of crude a day. It is the main outlet for Russian oil exports on the Black Sea. The shutdown will put additional strain on Russian infrastructure, which has repeatedly come under attack. Reuters sources also said oil exports from Russia's main Baltic port of Ust-Luga have been suspended since last week following large-scale drone strikes and fires. Background: A huge fire broke out at the Sheskharis oil terminal in Novorossiysk following an attack by kamikaze drones on the night of 1-2 March. Ukraine's Defence Ministry later confirmed the strike on the terminal. Drones operated by Special Operations Centre Alpha (part of the Security Service of Ukraine), working together with Ukraine's defence forces, were behind a strike on the Sheskharis oil-loading terminal on the night of 5-6 April.
